Contraindications for Laser Tattoo Removal – when you can’t have tattoo removal

 Not all patients are suitable for laser tattoo removal. It’s important to recognise these points when considering whether to perform tattoo removal on a client:

• Bleeding Disorders
• Rheumatoid Arthritis/ Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis
• Subnormal Intelligence orPsychiatric Disorders
• History of Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation
• Chronic Disease (Crohn’s Disease, IBD, etc.)
• Poorly Controlled Diabetes Mellitus
• Thrombocytopenia
• Peripheral Vascular Disease
• Anemia
• Fitzpatrick Skin Type 4 or 5

DEFINITELY NO:

• Collagen Vascular Diseases
• Cellulitis (MRSA)
• Psoriasis
• Renal Failure (Acute or Chronic)
• Malignancy
• Multiple Sclerosis
• Vitiligo
• Lichen Planus
• Lichen Nitidus
• Immunosuppression
• Keloids
• Certain Medications (i.e. Accutane,)
• Fitzpatrick Skin Type 6
